Faculty of Engineering welcomed Dr. Tsai Shih-Chin from National Tsing Hua University, Dr. Lee Chuan-Pin and Ms. Pan Ji-ju from National Cheng Kung University and Prof. Toshihiko Onuki from Tokyo Institute of Technology on Friday, June 28th. Prof. Tsuyoshi Setoguchi (Dean, Faculty of Engineering), Prof. Kazuhiro Sawa (Director, the Division of Energy and Environmental Systems), Prof. Tamotsu Kozaki and Assoc. Prof. Naoko Watanabe joined the meeting. They are promoting international joint research in the field of nuclear and environmental systems. National Tsing Hua University, the contact university in Taiwan for this joint research, and HU signed University-level exchange agreement in August 2012.
11 administrative staff from Seoul National University visited the Faculty of Engineering, Hokkaido University on Tuesday, June 25. Ms. Hitomi Sato, Director, International Affairs Office of Engineering welcomed the delegation. After the courtesy visit, the group went to a campus tour and visited Laboratory of Mineral Processing and Resources Recycling with Assist. Prof. Ilhwan Park. They looked experimental equipment of the laboratory with great interest. SNU is the first national university in Korea and established in 1946. Around 28,000 students study on the campus including a large number of international students. HU and SNU signed University-level exchange agreements in October 1997 and Faculty/Dep.-level exchange agreements in January 2011.
Prof. Zhiqiang Liu and Ms. Sijia Liu from Harbin Engineering University (HEU) were welcomed by Prof. Naoyuki Hashimoto (Deputy Director of International Exchange Office) on Wednesday June 12. They held active discussions focused on student exchange. One exchange student from HEU also attended the meeting. HEU is a public university established in 1953. Around 28,000 students study on the campus including a large number of international stduents. Hokkaido University and HEU signed faculty/dep.-level exchange agreements in August 2008.
NPO法人 アジアの留学生等を応援する会 (NPO the Supporter for International Students from Asian Countries) has arranged another event for Asian students studying at universities in Sapporo to enjoy floral scenery in lavender city Furano and Biei. The NPO was organized to let the Asian students in Sapporo to experience this popular outdoor activity in Hokkaido together with local Japanese, and funded by Nitori Hokkaido Aid Fund. They particularly seek for the university students from Bangladesh, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam. Faculty of Engineering welcomed Former Principal Takeshi Kishinami, Prof. Toshiya Suzuki and 7 international students who are studying at National Institute of Technology, Kushiro College, on Friday June 7th. 3 students from Turku University of Applied Sciences, Finland and 4 students from King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Thailand joined. After the campus tour, 2 of HU doctoral students from India and Thailand gave the research presentations. The group then visited Research Center For Integrated Quantum Electronics. They listened to the explanation about the research topics by Prof. Tamotsu Hashizume and Assoc. Prof. Masamichi Akazawa, and looked experimental equipment of the laboratory with great interest.
