Trial Session of Bridgestone Seismic Isolator for Bldg. *REPORT*

On chilly weekdays in the third week of November, a trial session of seismic isolator for buildings manufactured by Bridgestone Corp. was held by Lab. of Structural and Urban Safety Design, Faculty of Engineering, HU.  Using the trolley with their seismic isolation system, a fruit of cutting-edge technology Bridgestone had worked on, students, staff members in engineering and the local people could experience difference between a quake in quake-resistant system and tremor in their system. Welcome Reception for Newly-enrolled Int’l Students ’15 *REPORT*

Welcome Reception for Newly-enrolled International Students 2015 was held in the evening of first Friday this November.  This short-time event within 1.5 hour welcomed nearly 150 participants from the three engineering-related fields: Engineering, Chemical Sciences & Engineering and Information Science & Technology.  Since there have been more oversea students who entered HU than usual years, this reception invited 1.5 times more oversea students, their tutors and supervisors compared to last year’s event. After an unique welcome address and toast by Dean Nawa, participants started enjoying chatting, foods and beverage.  The reception went cheerfully with Cinematic City Sapporo a promotional footage of Sapporo City in four seasons, and the bingo game added excitement and amusement … Continued
