Hokkaido University Faculty of Engineering Regulations

(Effective as of April 1, 2010)

(Purposes)
Article 1. These regulations shall prescribe matters concerning the organization and operation of the Faculty of Engineering (hereinafter referred to as the “Faculty”), based on the provision of Article 27-4, Paragraph 4 of the Rules Concerning the Organization of the National University Corporation Hokkaido University (HU Doc. No.31 of 2004).

(Objectives)
Article 2. The Faculty aims, through the handing down of knowledge and the creation of learning, to provide students with fundamental knowledge of and applied research opportunities in the engineering field to deal with internationalization and highly-developed and interdisciplinary scientific technologies.

(Divisions and Research Groups)
Article 3. The Faculty will have the following divisions and research groups.

(Attached Institutes)
Article 4. The Center for the Advanced Research of Energy and Materials shall be established in the Faculty as an attached educational research facility.
2. The organization and operation of the Center for the Advanced Research of Energy and Materials shall be separately prescribed.

(Staff)
Article 5. The Dean of the Faculty and other necessary staff shall be appointed to the Faculty.

(Dean of the Faculty)
Article 6. The role of Dean of the Faculty shall be filled by a full-time professor in the Faculty.
2. The Dean of the Faculty shall administer the affairs of the Faculty.

(Vice Dean of the Faculty)
Article 7. Three vice deans of the Faculty shall be appointed to the Faculty.
2. The positions of vice deans of the Faculty shall be filled by full-time professors in the Faculty.
3. The vice deans of the Faculty shall assist the duties of the Dean of the Faculty.

(Faculty Council)
Article 8. The Faculty Council shall be established to deliberate on important matters regarding the Faculty.
2. The organization and management of the Faculty Council shall be separately governed by the Dean of the Faculty, after deliberation by the Faculty Council.

(Miscellaneous Provisions)
Article 9. Necessary matters regarding the management of the Faculty, in addition to those prescribed in these regulations, shall be governed by the Dean of the Faculty, after deliberation by the Faculty Council.

Supplementary Provisions (HU Doc. No. 105)
These regulations will come into effect from April 1, 2010.
